What are All-on-4 implant dentures?

dentures in aurora coRemovable dentures will restore your appearance and provide some function. But they are also notorious for not staying in place, and the last thing you want is dentures that unexpectedly move when you’re enjoying dinner with friends!

The All-on-4 procedure eliminates this problem because the dentures are held securely in place with dental implants. Dr. John Chen places four implants at points along your jaw, and your customized full dentures are designed to attach to the implants.

What are the benefits of All-on-4 dentures?

You may have heard that dental implants are an excellent solution to replace missing teeth. But replacing an entire arch of teeth would be a complex process and very expensive.

We place All-on-4 dentures at our Aurora, CO dental office because they solve the age-old problem of unstable removable dentures and can be completed in as little as a day.

There are several benefits to choosing All-on-4 dental implant dentures:

  • Cost-effective
  • Fewer implants
  • Faster healing times
  • A single procedure
  • Same-day results
  • Minimize the need for bone grafting
  • Speak, smile, and eat with confidence again

If you have questions and want to learn more about the All-on-4 procedure to replace missing teeth, please call Uptown Comprehensive Dentistry and Prosthodontics to arrange an appointment. Dr. Chen will be happy to meet with you to explain the process in more detail and help you decide if the procedure is right for your needs.

How do All-on-4 dentures work?

implant supported dentures auroraOnce Dr. Chen determines that you’re a good candidate, He then attaches your fully customized denture to the implants.

  • Dr. Chen takes a 3-D scan of your mouth to evaluate your bite and the shape and size of your teeth so he can customize dentures that look natural and fit the contours of your jaw.
  • Next, he places four titanium implant posts in your upper or lower jaw. The implants are placed close to the front of the mouth because that’s where the bone is the strongest. Dr. Chen places two of the implants at an angle, which allows for more surface contact with the bone to promote faster healing.
  • We customize your full dentures to complement your smile and add attachments that snap onto the implants in your jaw.
  • Follow-up visits are scheduled over the next six months so Dr. Chen can check on your progress as the implants heal.

Once we attach your dentures to the implants, they can only be removed by Dr. Chen. This security gives you peace of mind, knowing that your dentures won’t move unexpectedly or irritate your gums. Your new set of teeth should feel permanent and natural following the implant placement procedure.

What is Dr. Chen's experience in placing dental implants?

Immediately after Dr. Chen obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree (DDS), he entered the Advanced Prosthodontics residency program at USC where he spent an additional three years studying, planning, and treating aesthetic, implant, and full mouth reconstruction cases. During his residency, he was also part of the USC faculty where he taught removable, fixed, and implant prosthodontics on the clinic floor.

With this additional training and expertise, you can trust Dr. Chen to provide the highest standard of care and beautiful results! Please call our Aurora dental office to arrange a dental appointment to get started.

Does getting All-on-4 dental implants hurt?

Since the implants are placed surgically in your jawbone, it is likely that you may experience some soreness or discomfort immediately following treatment. Plan to take it easy and rest for the first day or two after your surgery and avoid strenuous physical activity for several days after.

Our dental team will provide you with after-care instructions and will also follow up with you by phone to make sure you’re doing okay.

Will my All-on-4 implant dentures look natural?

dentist in aurora coWhether you choose All-on-4 implants or removable dentures, Dr. Chen takes great care to design dentures that look natural and complement your smile. We’ll plan your dentures together and customize the shape, size, and shade of individual teeth to replicate the variations found in natural teeth.

You don’t have to worry that your dentures will look fake, and when we attach them to the dental implants, you’ll have a set of teeth that look, feel, and function as close to natural teeth as possible.

How long do All-on-4 implant dentures last?

If you care for your teeth and gums properly and visit us for routine dental exams and cleanings, your dental implants can last a lifetime. However, since your dentures are a prosthetic device, they will eventually need to be replaced. With proper care, a well-made set of dentures can last as long as eight years.

How should I care for my All-on-4 dental implant dentures?

Before getting dental implants placed, you need to commit yourself to maintain excellent gum health. The biggest threat to the long-term success of your implant is gum disease and the bone deterioration that can result from it.

For optimal long-term results, Dr. Chen recommends that you return to our Aurora, CO dental office for dental exams and teeth cleanings every six months. If you notice signs of gum disease like bleeding or swollen gums, please call us for an appointment so we can treat it before it compromises your implant.
