How can we help you?
Prosthodontist Dr. John Chen and the staff at Uptown Comprehensive Dentistry and Prosthodontics understand the importance of patient education. Good oral care is essential for one’s overall health. We know that the more knowledge our patients have about dental care, the better their oral health will likely be.
At our office, we tend to hear a lot of the same questions from our patients. For your convenience, we have included some of the more popular ones below.
You may have a question that is not on the list, and if so, we invite you to give us a call. We are happy to go over anything with you that will contribute to your good oral health. We know that educated patients make the best decisions about dental treatment, and we want you to feel confident about any recommended procedures. All of our staff is happy to take whatever time is needed to ensure you fully understand treatment options and maintain good oral health.
At Uptown Comprehensive Dentistry and Prosthodontics, we are your partner in oral health. We look forward to caring for you as well as your entire family!
Digital X-Rays
Yes, dental x-rays are safe, especially digital x-rays. Dr. John Chen and our team at Uptown Comprehensive Dentistry and Prosthodontics use digital radiographs and panoramic x-rays to monitor your oral health and check for underlying concerns. Digital dental x-rays are faster and safer than conventional film x-rays of the past and are more comfortable. Unlike film x-rays, digital radiographs emit considerably less radiation.
Digital Radiography and Panoramic X-Rays
With digital X-rays, taking and viewing images is easier, and the images are more detailed and precise. Dr. Chen places a comfortable mouthpiece in the patient’s mouth and captures the images, which are immediately available to view on the chairside monitor. Digital X-rays are also easy to email to insurance companies and specialists, so you don’t have to wait nearly as long for recommended treatment.
Our panoramic X-rays take a flat image of the entire mouth, providing us with a comprehensive view. Dr. Chen can see all of your upper and lower teeth, jaw joints, nasal area, and sinuses.
Digital dental x-rays and panoramic x-rays make dental care more precise, comfortable, and personalized.

Dental X-Rays Are Affordable
Dental x-rays are an affordable way to save money on your future dental care, and they are typically covered by most insurances, at least partially. Preventive dentistry is a small investment with big payoffs. We can detect issues before they become costly dental emergencies or lead to tooth loss.
Dental X-Rays Can Save You Money
Dental x-rays help your dentist see what’s below your smile’s surface. This means we can see your tooth structures, jaws, and beneath the gums––all aspects of your oral health that we can’t see with a visual examination. Dental x-rays help our team discover and identify hidden concerns before they progress and develop into serious issues. Catching oral health problems early can, in turn, save you quite a bit of time and money in the future.
