Each tooth in our mouth places a vital role in the health and function of our smile; every tooth is essential.
If one tooth is gone, then all the other structures are compromised. Adult tooth loss can be a serious issue, but Dr. John Chen can offer a comprehensive list of restorative dental treatments that restore tooth loss and prevent further damage.
Dental implants in Aurora are considered a popular tooth replacement procedure that can permanently allow you to eat, chew, speak, or smile.
All-On-4 vs. Regular Dental Implants
At. Dr. Chen's cosmetic dental practice, Uptown Comprehensive Dentistry and Prosthodontics, we have an array of tooth replacement options that beautifully restore your smile. We proudly serve the Aurora, Parker, and Centennial communities.
Dental implants are small titanium screws that we anchor to your jaw bone through a surgical process. After the dental surgery, it takes a few months for the site to heal and for the implant to embed within the jaw bone. The healing time can take three to six months; once healed, Dr. Chen will attach an abutment to the dental implant. The abutment is the foundation for the dental crown, the visible portion of your dental implant.
All-on-4 dental implants are for patients who have multiple missing teeth, up to an entire arch. A set of four dental implants are placed within the jaw bone to permanently hold a set of partial or complete dentures. Traditional dental implants may require more than one surgical procedure and months of healing. All-on-4 dental implants can all be placed in one dental visit so that patients can leave the dental office with their dental implants and restorative dental crowns in place.
Not everyone is the right fit for this dental procedure. Dr. Chen may recommend All-on-4 dental implants for patients who:
- Need to replace an entire arch (upper or lower) of missing teeth
- Currently wear dentures but do not like that they are removable, or having to replace the denture due to a change in the fit
- May not have the bone density required to support individual dental implants
