Can porcelain veneers help disguise crooked teeth?

It depends on the extent of the misalignment, but in some cases, yes, we can use porcelain veneers to conceal crooked teeth. But remember that veneers are only an aesthetic solution and not a replacement for orthodontic treatment.

A dental veneer is a thin facing of custom-shaped porcelain that covers the front surfaces of your teeth and conceal numerous problems like chipped, broken, stained, or poorly proportioned teeth.

Since veneers provide a new tooth surface, we can also use them to conceal minor tooth misalignment. While the teeth still remain fixed in their position, the face of the veneer creates the appearance of straight teeth.

Placing dental veneers takes place over two visits to our Aurora dental office. During the first, we prepare the teeth we’re treating by removing a thin layer of dental enamel. We then take impressions and create temporary veneers to wear until your final veneers come back from the custom dental lab.

During the second visit, we adjust the veneers for fit and bond them securely to the teeth. With excellent oral hygiene and routine preventive exams and dental cleanings, your veneers can last as long as ten years. It’s important to remember that, since we alter the structure of your tooth, porcelain veneers are a lifetime commitment.
